Gateway Hotel Newport , Newport (Gwent)

The hotel is located in a slightly run-down area but was ideal for the event we attended. The rooms, though in need of refurbishment, were clean and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and accommodating, compensating for some minor issues. The dining options were good but limited by the Muslim ownership. Overall, a decent value for money stay with some room for improvement in certain areas.

I found the hotel to be a mixed experience. On one hand, the room was reasonably priced during a busy period when other hotels had high rates, and having two double beds was great for our family. However, the noise levels were quite high. The service was pleasant overall, especially the older lady who went above and beyond to accommodate us, but there were some disruptions like doors slamming. The location, although within walking distance of the main part of town, felt a bit rough with some unfriendly individuals around, but I felt the value for money was excellent considering the price paid. The dining experience left something to be desired with limited options, but the facilities were adequate for a comfortable stay.
